I installed Minbar today on Ubuntu Hardy. The only problem is that the sound files are missing. Could you tell where I can download the files from OR if there is a specific path which I need to give please let me know.

Install Minbar from Synaptics, it works!

Assalaam o alaikum,

terrific work! It is -really- nice to see ppl making these sorts of programs for Linux as well (however we need a lot more brothers to develop these skills!). May you (and everyone involved in this project) inshallah be rewarded for your efforts.

So, I have two questions.
1) How do I check which version I have installed?
2) How do I make Minbar play the *.ogg adhan files I want to feed it?

Alhamdulillah, it is good to know that my post is helpful.

One more thing is that, it seems that Minbar is created to comply with Gnome environment. Because I do not see any notifer to warn me that prayer time has come. Only athan audio warns me in KDE. I have not seen all the source code yet. But since I am a KDE users, notifier is a must.

It is actually simple to use notifier in KDE. The command line is knotify. Please explore more to this command to use it in Minbar.

I would be nice if Minbar support KDE environment too. Thanks. may Allah give you strength to continue this project and bless you.

That is fine. Installed (auto removable) means that libitl0 was installed because of Minbar and would bet set to be auto removed when Minbar is removed. Minbar is “local” because you installed it from a .deb. In brief, there is nothing to worry about :)

Both minbar and libitl0 appear in synaptic in two statuses “Installed (auto removable)” and “Installed (local or obsolete)”, it is fine for the second one but why it appear in the first one ?

Raden, that error means you need some plugins for your gstreamer install. Have you installed all plugins?

I honestly haven’t tried Minbar on desktops other than GNOME, but I don’t see why it shouldn’t be able to run on any desktop that supports tray icons.

I got this error when trying to play the athan while the running Minbar in xfce

Is there any support for desktops other than GNOME?
