salam,
for suse and opensuse do this:
install libitl first:
http://files.djihed.com/minbar/packages/pclinuxos/libitl-0.6.4-1.i586.rpm
then extract 'etc' and 'usr' folders from minbar rpm package and simply copy to your root system / :
http://files.djihed.com/minbar/packages/pclinuxos/minbar-0.2.1-1.i586.rpm

like this(do this as root):
cp usr -r /
cp etc -r /
note: minbar rpm will ask for gconf2 but you do not install it just copy the extracted folders to root,
good luck

Thanks to everyone who contributed this package.

I have started to use it with Gutsy without any problems. The only slight problem was about the time zone. I am at GMT -6, but to see the correct prayer times I had to set it to GMT -5.

Salaam.

Ifran,
First, the errors are quite weird, especially because I've built it on ubuntu edgy myself as well. IIRC stdlib.h and string.h are included in GTK headers as well, apparently not. I'll explicity include them now. For ITL, try installing it from debian repositories.

hello,

I just built minbar, there seems some of the standard header files are not included in main.c, when compiled with gcc
just include

#include /* for exit() */
#include /* for strcmp() */

There is another problem, when compiling minbar/src
-litl is not found, i have installed it (libitl.so) in /usr/lib/itl.
I have replaced -litl with /usr/lib/itl/libitl.so.6 for compiling minbar/src/minbar.c and that seems to have worked.

I am using ubuntu edgy.
I hoep this one is a minor issue, but gets fixed

Hi Kevin,

You're right, I should probably have pointed out that Minbar is in experimental both because of the freeze and because of dependency issues. IIRC it depends on packages that are still in experimental (namely GTK 2.10.x, http://packages.debian.org/experimental/libs/libgtk2.0-0). But I guess these in turn are still in experimental because of the freeze, but I don't know how long until they get bumped up after Etch is out.

Thanks for pointing that out =)

Hi Djijed,
I was under the impression that Etch is frozen and that all non-rc bugfixes or other new packages will be put in experimental. And any rc bugfix will go into unstable and then testing to produce etch. And after Etch is stable, uploads to unstable will be allowed for regular bugfixes.
Cheers,
Kev
